Shot was taken in 1250 ISO without flash, hand-held.
Who says you need later Nikons to shoot excellent high iso noise rates.
All I corrected on this shot was the white balance settings with PS ACR 5.1
Note that on none of my cameras the internal noise reduction is switched on.
I believe that a camera should be used within the physical limits of it's capture device.
Noise flattening and pushing iso rates is software game and the best way to destroy a photo.
