Great shot of the strange shapes of this wall! From the thumbnail, it looked like the thing in the center was sticking out, then it took a while after looking at the full-sized image to see that it was an indentation

Funny I did a tighter cop on the *cubismo* shot initially for more or less the same reasons but finally decided I was making it too abstract by cutting off so much context. With this one I prefer the original here just because I'm quirkily attached to the little details like the repeating curve on the lower left & the mysterious demi-chamber on the right. ;)

I agree about the harmony of the original 4 in their inherent *flatness* of plane & excision of *reality* details like sky & I look forward to printing & hanging them as a group.
Cheerily,
jp

jp, I fully appreciate the view on the shapes. Thinking about this aspect more I found the shot would require a tighter cropping "to get to the point". Have a look to the demo http://www.pbase.com/stfchallenge/image/106534281) and feel free to delete.

Reason why I am stuck with the initial series is that they built a perfect harmony. The two new ones introduce a different kind of perspective and introduce the sky as another element. Especially the latter makes it too real. Just my opinion.
Cheers,
Frank

Frank, I think the other ones were about texture whereas this one's more about shape. When I first opened this as a thumbnail I couldn't figure out that odd-shaped niche in the middle & thought somehow I'd managed a double-exposure. It knocked me out.

My saying this will probably turn off some people but I think this composition has a real Cezanne-look because of the shapes, colors & shadows.

jp, you know I love this kind of stuff and the location delivers many perspective. But this one lives more from the architecture and IMHO does not deliver the same timeless abstraction which all your initial posts had. Good, but not my pref.
Cheers,
Frank
