A CS4 "upgrade" has disabled Adobe CS4 Bridge and/or Camera Raw, thus I had to use Gimp and UFRaw, then as a last step, I was able to load the image into CS4, wherein I used a wee bit of shadow highlight. For me, CS4 has been a waste of money, has added to processing time per picture (even before the so-called "upgrade"). I was happy with CS2, but Adobe became forceful and wouldn't read Canon G9 cr2 rawfiles, thus prompting me to purchase CS4. Shucks, heck, drat, and phooey!
Solution has occurred. The automatic upgrade via download discombobulated my CS4, finally (after hours of searching Adobe "help" and the web, google led me to:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4220
After finding and separately downloading Camera Raw 5.2, then installing it manually, Bridge and CS4 once again seem to be working. Only two days lost.
Somewhere, the exif got stripped. Shot was handheld, fairly long telephoto, arms resting on a sturdy banister of the Brynwood Lodge in Estes Park.
