A fairly uncommon plumage in the area, second winter birds are not "white winged" and can easily be passed over as Black-headed Gulls.
The heavier bill with black band, dull red leg colouring and smudged plumage behind the eye and lighter tips to the primaries are helpful pointers. This bird was seen at Lunan Bay.
