M81

M81 (NGC 3031) Spiral Galaxy type Sb, in Ursa Major. Also faintly seen is Holmberg IX (UGC 5336) an
Irregular Satellite Galaxy of M81. Taken on the nights of Mar 21, Apr 3, Apr 8, and Apr 9, 2007
with a DSI Pro II and Outback Cooler on a C80ED operating at f6 with a WO 0.8x field
flattener/reducer. L subframes were 2 and 3 min., RGB subframes were 2min., and H-alpha subframes
were 5 min. resulting in the following total exposures L:R+H:G:B ( in min) = 253:64+70:66:72 Color
balance was achieved via numerically scaled channels. Captured with Envisage, calibrated and sigma
combined in Iris with other processing using FITZ, PixInsight LE and Photoshop CS. North is up.
