Sunrise in Paradise, Governors Bay, Canterbury, New Zealand

One of the disadvantages of summer, along with heat, sun, melanomas, hordes of tourists, roses that smell, birds that twitter all hours and scantily clad ladies, is the unsociable hour of sunrise. I had to peel myself from the double bunk at 0500 this morning to make a headlong dash up the hill to get this snap. Rupert came and visions of a rabbit for breakfast quickly disappeared in the undergrowth. He seemed happy enough with his usual biscuit after all.

Exactly my sentiments about early morning photography ........ but the effort is worth it sometimes. As for other summer complaints, living in Queensland which is one of the tourist meccas of the world, bush tracks are like superhighways, animal sanctuaries are 4 people deep at most of the exhibits, etc. etc. etc. not to mention heat, flies, sandflies mozzies, etc. etc. ...... anyway, a beautiful photo with unbelievable colour. Sleep for the rest of the day (until sunset, when you do it all over again .... lol!)

O K John, I give up. What is the difference between this shot and the next one?
