Mother Tawny Frogmouth and Chicks

Canberra, Australia

The Tawny Frogmouth is not an owl as it has eyes on the side rather than in front as for an owl. They are noctunral, have long wings and a short bill. We happened upon this little family in a local park about 40 feet up in a gum tree. The male (also with a watchful eye open) was on a nearby branch.
