I was surprised to see this mix of religious iconography in one of the shrines at the chedi. Clearly, the Buddha figure is on top, but I believe the rest of the statue is Hindu. I believe the bull in Nandi, the carrier of Shiva, who is the destroyer of evil, creator of new life, and sustainer of life. However, Shiva is not usually represented by this many arms. The Goddess Durga has 10 arms, and represents the power of the Supreme Being that preserves moral order and righteousness. However, Durga usually rides a lion. Anyone have the answers?
