Martat - the Marthas - an association of active Finnish women, founded in 1899 - they have even male members nowadays. Martat have their meetings every week with different themes,
they arrange education for instance in cooking and handwork - they are very active internationally, working in Africa in different projects informing local women of food, health, handwork etc.
together with other organisations. Martat travel both in Finland and abroad. They have founded an association in Belgium, too, with similar goals.
In their bazaars they sell food, coffee, confectionary, handwork, flowers, and of course lots of lots! They also circulate books and cloths, toys etc. This bazaar is traditionally arranged in Konala church.
