Studio stand in...

Well, the model I was supposed to shoot was not available this afternoon when I got home. I ended up working late for some much needed overtime. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to reschedule, since she sleeps here occasionally. ;)

So, I thought I'd take the opportunity to work an impromptu portrait of Ian. He was wearing his "spirit" wear from school. They are only allowed to wear it on Fridays, since he attends a school that requires a uniform.

Anyways, pretty much the same set up as yesterday with a few minor changes. I kept the main light at about the same position but feathered it to keep it from spilling onto the backdrop too much. I forgot to mention that the main is gelled with a CTO gel and balanced in camera. I removed the green gel from the backdrop, but since I have the camera balanced out to the CTO, the plain flash on the backdrop went a tad blue. I did add a home made grid to make the spot a little tighter.

The fill light is a roll of white seamless unrolled at camera left at about the same distance as the main. I added a white sheet on the table Ian is resting his hands on to provide a little fill up under his chin.

If any of the above doesn't make sense, send me a message. I've had a couple of mixed drinks tonight and I'm a little slap happy. ;)

I'd like to echo debbeeanne's comment! This is amazing. I don't think I will ever master/understand light techniques like you. Good lookin' subject you have there too!
Geeze, give a guy a couple of drinks and look what happens...........!

Good picture. Maybe you can get the 3 models there together some time for some shots. We haven't seen the oldest one lately. Its a real trick to let all 3 in a good mood at the same time. Good luck!!!
