In the 1920s, Dali (b. 1904) appeared at a conference in London dressed in a deep-sea diving suit, saying that he intended to dive into his subconscious for inspiration. Unfortunately, he couldn’t breathe with the helmet and had to be hospitalized.
In 1960, the diving suit was among the belongings Dali gave to establish a museum in his honor in his home town.
