Well, Isn't that an ODD place to build ? Goffen

Jølster, Norway

Five buildings no less. It's the Bjørsetstøyl. Built on the edge of Bjørsetmountain at about 800m. That's 600 m straight up from the farms at the Jølster Lake. Someone had to climb down with the cream on his back every day... No wonder people emigrated to the US.

Strange place to build. People use to build in more shelter like places, closer to the hills, or rocks, forest, not in open like here. Nice find.

Hmmm. and after immigrating to the U.S. missed the high elevations and pure air. Nice shot - I have a part of me that desires to be a hermit. THis would be an interesting compromise :-) brent

It just seems crazy to build a farmstead up there! this is indeed very odd :-)

Awww, so there is 5, I wasn't sure if that longer big one was one single building or not. I just read your extra info. What a crazy story, and no wonder we think Norwegians were an especially tough bunch! Shoot after living there Minnesota and North Dakota would be a breeze!

I would say so! Looks like 3 buildings up on that ridge. How on earth do they get home? I would be praying that there weren't any avalanches, it looks a loooooong way down and very steep!! I've always thought having a place on an acre or 2 of land would be great, no close neighbors that way but this is a bit extreme! lol Great find and shot Goffen.
