4th place: "Skeletons For Obama" by Warren Sarle

Gainesville, Florida, USA

In 2000, Republican Senators Gramm and Lugar slipped the Commodities Futures Modernization Act into a budget bill that the Senate, under intense pressure to keep the federal government running, passed unanimously. This provision legalized credit-default swaps, which had previously been illegal gambling, and which subsequently became the main cause of the financial catastrophe of 2008, which caused Joe the Programmer to lose his job and his house. Joe now lives in a tent and has almost starved to death, with nothing to eat but marshmallows. He's in such bad shape, he's nothing but a skeleton. Therefore, he's supporting the Democratic Obama-Biden ticket in the presidential campaign.

Looks like an Acorn registration drive - burning the evidence I suppose. I'm glad Bush is leaving - it seems like it is taking forever :-)

There's a plastic pumpkin and a biological pumpkin. Joe is unprejudiced about the ethnicity of Jack O'Lanterns. All three of them are toasting marshmallows. - Warren

On the other hand, I'm sure the collapse had nothing to do with Dem. Rep. Barney Frank and HUD giving out millions of home loans to people with no addresses, employment or ID. Democrats own this one I'm afraid. LVPG

Well, Joe and his ilk lasted long enough to get Mr Obama in . .. is that a plastic pumpkin I see there?
Great stuff Warren

A bit of foreshadowing here Warren, as I fear the country has taken the bait again. Can you say "new-deal II?" Once a country lead by the words of Jefferson, Adams, Franklin and even Kennedy, emphasizing individualism-- we now seem to be a big group of people with their hands out. As in BRAVE NEW WORLD, there is no more "I." It has been replaced with "give me." The individual is but a skeleton. Great pic. LVPG

The pumpkins (Jack O'Lanterns) are the only friends Joe has left. Most Americans don't want to be buddies with a homeless skeleton. - Warren

Thank you for your concise and lucid explanation.
He'd get a good few meals off that pumpkin!
