Ola works at the Mauna Lani and manages the beach employees. Last year, when I saw a 5-6 foot reef shark, he was the only one on the beach who believed me. He has since seen the shark a few times. This year, we swam to a beach together which was about a half mile away and then back. He showed me the safer way out through the reef, so I didn't have to worry about getting cut up on the coral. Two other companions, Kevin and James made the swim the first day through pretty choppy seas. On Saturday, it rained heavily. After removing a fish hook from a sea turtle's neck, Ola and I made the swim together. The water was colder, but there were many more fish and the water was much calmer. It was VERY relaxing to swim in this warm open water, watching my friend gliding through the smooth water. To Ola...Cheers! And an ice cream cone for your little daughter!
