This large raptor is very common in The Gambia.
It eats a wide range of smallish prey including lizards & frogs. It is however famed for its long 'double-jointed' legs which allow it to probe deep into crevices, woodpecker holes & weaver nests to extract the hapless occupants. They can often be seen balanced on one leg or flapping upside-down as a nest or crevice is being probed.
