Seed pods, Preston, Idaho, 2008

This flow of seedpods, glowing in backlight, begins at upper left and wraps its way around and through the small stream that slices through the middle of the frame. This autumnal image offers a palette of browns and greens, striking evidence of the seasonal change.

Small beauty indeed. Thanks, Marcia, for noting that photography is all about seeing, and the meaning of what we see often rests in the small details.

could have easily been ignored but this gentle "small beauty" deserves to be seen!

Thanks, Dave, for bringing us to this magical place once again. I agree -- this image is about making order out of disorder. Nature presents its wonders randomly. It is up to us, as photographers, to put that randomness into a context that makes sense out of it. That is what I tried to do here.

Phil, I love this photograph. There is order, yet it's composed of disorder and together those opposite though complementary concepts make for bold image that makes me look at the parts as well as the whole.

That church of the holy hay is a magical place. On my first visit, the evening light produced the scene athttp://www.pbase.com/image/69215272 On my second visit, in the morning, the light here was a perfect fit. Thanks for the good wishes, Rosemarie.

An abundance of seedpods is a sure sign of autumn. I like the rhythym in the image and of the cycle of the seasons. May the abundance of the Church of the Holy Hay carry you through the coming winter!
