How intriguing! Remarkable device, really - and then there's the modern version in the background. Perfect depiction of changes over time.

That old crane reminds me, in a very weird way, of a peculiar-looking Irish harp.

Shirley, this structure is an old crane used for loading and unloading cargo from riverboats in the 1800's.
