The gallows at the old Fremantle Prison which is one of Western Australia's premier heritage sites, centrally located in the heart of the port city of Fremantle. The Prison was built by convicts in the 1850s and was closed as a place of incarceration in 1991 after 136 years of continuous use. It was opened to the public in 1992 as a tourist site and in recognition of its heritage value.
The lighting seems almost to embrace this place. But the dangling noose gives me a frisson of uneasy chill. I think I'd be very uncomfortable in this place. The very walls must be crowded with old emotions and terrible impressions!
Stark and powerful.

Heavy Duty Dennis,
Gives me the chills to look at it. That proves it's power and strength.

This place seems so cold and stark despite the nice warm colors. It's strange looking at places where people lost their lives. It must have been weird to be in this place huh? Did you get any cold chills up your spine?
