I changed to a different dandelion shot. This one kind of demonstrates better, how the front and back of the dandelion become a filmy haze because they are out of focus, but the centre and the ring of little umbrellas around it, the corona as Frank says, are sharp and detailed.

John, I like this approach to the DOF very much. This is the "issue" with full frame, very low DOF. Setting the focus on the corona works very well. Maybe you could push a bit the contrast with the aim to darken the background.

It looks different from your usual photograph of a dandelion. It looks noisy and fuzzy to me too, but it's also pretty sharp and detailed.
