Mare Crisium

The sun is setting over Mare Crisium, on the eastern limb of the waning gibbous moon. South is up. The major craters are Macrobius (bottom) and Tarantrius (top). Also visible are the Cauchy rilles. The photo was taken with a 10-inch f/6.8 Newtonian reflector, a 25mm eyepiece and a Nikon Coolpix 990 digital camera on August 25, 2002.
