Here's a shooting tip. When you go to the beach at sunset, bring along a good looking model. By using a little fill flash you can make a dynamic portrait by shooting the model with flash with the sunset behind. Note to self: Bring along the model next time Bill.

Make also sure that your model has suspenders. Yes, flash can sometimes be used. This is an excellent example.
