Isle de Jean Charles, Louisiana

Although most of the island is devastated and colorless, I liked the colors of these houses against the beautiful sky. Everywhere you look is the cracked, dried mud left behind by the flood waters.
This is part of my new gallery that I hope you will visit, part of the destruction of Louisiana by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike and the small stretch of land inhabited by American Indians of the Houma Nation. The gallery is titled "Isle de Jean Charles and Pointe aux Chenes".

Such a desolate image. It looks silent save for the wind.

The colors are stunning but the foot bridge seems to steal the shot. I hope that it's more sturdy than it looks. V

You've sure captured the atmoshpere here....that cracked mud , those bare trees, a dock leading to dryness....

When I was a little girl, my mom would take us crabbing at both places. Brings back lots of memories.

Fascinating image, making me want to be there in person and see more!
