Went on a leisurely bike ride today, just 40 miles, and took a hellof a long time to complete it, thanks to many attractions and distractions by the wayside, among them the magnificent Raby Castle, which was closed today, but its DOORS were open, so, I walked in and.. nothing happened. So I went ona lovely walk in the grounds, took a few pictures, then went on me merry way. Having Lord barnard appear with a tea tray would have been perfection, but you can't have everything.

The estate was owned by the Viking King Knut as early as the 11th Century, with Raby Castle built in the 14th Century for the dynasty of the Nevills who still live there to the present day.
