I didn't see this one earlier. The light really emphasizes the sharp prickliness of this thistle. I've stepped on a few in my time. They used to grow abundantly in my uncle's cow pastures. I really like the shot. Brenda

Very good shot showing the nature of a thistle, a prickly weed but can produce some very nice flowers. They seem to grow the world over. Dennis

Hi Shirley, I thought I'd name it a thorny situation but a simple thistle would be more dignified.

Yes they are a very thorned plant for sure! But those bright purple flowers that pop out are a favorite of bee's and butterflies. The seeds are fun too, little white spiders floating through the air. I like the way the sun lights up the thorn tips, really emphasizing them.

Welcome back Rich, I like the colors on this one. I remember doing a summersault into a patch of these when my bike's front wheel hit a big rock. It wasn't fun.
