The Gypsy Queens & Kings ( Romania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Hungary, France)
An amazing project that features world biggest music stars associated with gypsy music from different parts of Europe. Fanfare Ciocarlia, world-famous brass band from Romania, is the master of ceremonies. The band comes from a magical village Zece Prãjini, which is well-known, and at the same time unique, thanks to the number of practicing musicians. There are real “aristocrats” of the Balkan gypsy music among the guests: Esma Redzepova (Macedonia), Jony Iliev (Bulgaria), Florentina Sandu (Romania) and other countries: Mitsou (Hungary), and a band Kaloome (Perpignan/southern France). Each of the musicians is a great personality with a unique voice and music of the same kind, created out of the similar philosophy, one root, but still diverse, because it can adopt the elements of the surrounding cultures. This project is an attempt to cover a wide spectrum: from Balkan trumpets and traces of Slavic culture to guitar passage works from south of France, which are under the influences of Arabic music.
