Louisiana

Almost impossible to take photos this weekend. We still have high winds and water from Huricane Ike. Almost all of our coastal towns in Louisiana are flooded including parts of New Orleans. In Terrebonne Parish (county) over 10,000 homes are flooded. In Jefferson Parish (my parish) the towns of Lafitte, Crown Point, Barataria and Grand Isle have been evacuated because of high water and thousands of homes are flooded. Grand Isle has 3 feet of water on it and looks like part of the Gulf of Mexico.

Yeah, Galveston got hit bad and my cousins are still without power in western LA. Beautiful day today here....a lot of rain yesterday and wind but nothing like what hit the coast. Hopefully, it will dry out soon. Will be heading back down to Houston in a few weeks....

It's such a state of extremes. Incredible beauty but overwhelming natural violence too.

What a wonderful shot Coleen! Have been worried about you and your
part of the world since we heard about H. Ike...

Excellent light and composition! To me, an unusual landscape.

We are getting news of Hurricane Ike every hour on the radio and TV. It seems an horrific tragedy! Hope things are all right with you.
