Most every day between May and October, on a mission between sunrise and sunset, The Walking Man can be seen headed East or West along Fire Island's 20 some miles of beach.
Several years ago my wife and I dubbed him "The Walking Man" after the James taylor tune.

As the season begins to change this somehow felt appropriate:
Moving in Silent desperation
Keeping an eye on the holy land
A hypothetical destination
Say, who is this walking man?

Another man stops and talks
But the walking man walks.....
