Commissioned by King Louis IX and completed in 1248, St. Chapelle was built to house relics
of Christ, including Christ's crown of thorns and a fragment of the true cross. The chapel was
converted to an administrative building during the French Revolution (1789~1799) and the relics
were dispersed. St. Chapelle is known for its double chapel and its magnificent stained glass
windows. For more information about St. Chapelle, please visit the Sainte-Chapelle pages of wikipedia.org.
