Desert Spiny Lizard

Southeastern Arizona

While taking a walk through desert paths, I spotted this lizard, that I believe is a Desert Spiny Lizard by its coloration and size (about 8" [inches]).

You are correct, carol. Nice job capturing the territorial display. I love these lizards. because the males and females have very distinct color patterns, with the males getting some pretty awesome blues and yellows. V.

Hi Carol,
These are one of my favorite creatures but I can't stand snakes. If somebody uploads a snake I have to remove them from my favorites until it's gone. But if you look closely at the heads of these they look much like a snake and I think they're adorable. Go figure. LOL These are wonderful shots! \/
