Solway Harvester at dusk in Douglas harbour

The Solway Harvester was a 70ft scallop dredger that sailed from Kircudbright in Scotland on the 10th January 2000. She was headed for the scallop rich fishing grounds near the Isle of Man. On the afternoon of the 11th January, having completed her fishing, she set sail for home. Unfortunately a fierce storm blew up and the skipper decided to shelter in Ramsey bay off the Isle of Man, tragically however she never made it and sank 11 miles off the Manx coast.

The story surrounding the vessel is full of mystery and intrigue and can be read here courtesy of Wikipedia

How sad a story. I'm surprised anyone would go through the trouble to salvage her 11 miles out to sea.

Great shot though. I love that brooding sky, it really fits the story of the boat's demise and suggests mother nature isn't done with her yet. Voted
