#49599 The big bulls in Boxley Valley, near Ponca, Arkansas, are beginning to join the cow elk in the earliest stage of the elk rut. There is no bugling, no real bull fighting, but the bulls at least temporarily are "running" the cows. A caught cow is mated.
This big guy wandered into very deep grass looking for love. I report on this daily on my blog site http://arkansaswildlifephotography.com. I encourage interested photographers to consider making a trip to NW Arkansas. It is a place nearby to see the elk rut, and witness bull fights now and then. Soon will be color season, a great time to be here.
