You are like a writer who embellishes an ordinary story to create a great novel. Your photograph has improved on natures work. Well done
And no were excesses necessary

I have a few confessions to make.
1. I intended the background to be sharp. So much for the way too deep dof of 4/3 @ 7mm/f5.6 (I still think it turned out OK)
2. The fungi is living where this is taken (@1000m appx) but i helped it a little up on a big rock to improve it's view.
3. The sky has been hued/saturated a bit. (But the 7-14 does give great skies)
There, now my consciense is as clean as my motorcycle again...

What a great shot! I looks like the fungi is acting as a sentry! And what a great place to do it from!

I am falling more and more in love with shots taken by this lens (in good hands too). This is such a very good photo. The sky is a beautiful blue, the mushroom just jumps from the photo, and the world looks like such a wonderful place! It makes the subject seem so grand!

I never knew you could have fungi growing so high up in the open
Very nice shot, love the deep blue sky

Beautiful composition, the high sky and the lake (water) and the fields in valley implies a cycle of life, which to me means food. Oh the fungi, it may eatable be but I am not hungry enough to take a bite.

Great Boletus! Did you eat it?

You could always test it out on that yapping poodle next door ... . Seriously a first-rate composition here, with the well-groomed 'shroom surveying its dung heap, er, kingdom. Great stuff.

Wonderful shot Goffen, I assume it is a mushroom, but is it edible? I don't think I have ever seen this perspective before! Well done.
