Riley Kestrel in Leyburn Station

Last not least, a Riley Kestrel http://www.motorbase.com/vehicle/by-id/711/) completes the line-up. They all seem to come from the same factory, which says something about the inbreeding in the British Motoring Industry. I wonder why it didn’t survive?

Top end versions of cars built by BMC (later British Leyland) often carried the badge of one of the smaller group companies such as Riley, Wolesey and MG. This was done to protect custom from people who were loyal to these brands or maybe they were just snobs as well?
Crap management oversaw the introduction of some poor cars in the 1970's such as the Marina and Allegro. Added to that, an extreme union leader called Red Robbo and it's no wonder. And all this at a time when the Japanese were able to offer something better.
