A few years back we were on a road trip down in the southwest on my wife's birthday. We stopped in a wholesale jewelry store in St. George Utah. I was feeling big, so I told her "buy anything you want honey! Happy Birthday!" in front of the clerk. (yeah! that was stupid!) With a "Are you (blink! blink!) sure?" she giggled and she started looking at opal and turquoise rings. She worked her way down the long case full of sparkly shinny bobbles. I finally couldn't take it anymore and my Scots blood curdled as I slid the credit card across the glass she was gazing through with glee. "I am going for coffee", that's code for I'll be in the truck, don't take to long because it's a long walk back to Washington. After I had a cup of joe from the thermos in the truck (while praying) I went back in just in time to have to have the privilege of signing the credit card slip. I think my signature looked pretty good considering my eyes were closed.
(She took pity on me and didn’t do to bad and it was actually the only way to get her to pick out something nice for herself!)
