The Singing Angels

The Singing Angels 1.jpg

The Cathedral of St. Baaf (Bavo) is a powerful monument of gothic architecture. It is also a museum of sculpture, carving, wrought iron work and painting.

The most famous of its paintings, "The Adorations of the Lamb of God" (1432), is housed in a chapel built specially for this purpose. Shown above is a
detail of the 2nd to the top left panel named "The Singing Angels". This masterpiece is commonly attributed to the two brothers, Jan and Hubert Van Eyck.
