A Flat for a Family of Five (2)

Hong Kong view map

Looking from another angle of the flat in So Uk Tsuen,
there are two red shrines on the right-hand side.
The lower one is for worshipping “Tu Di Gong”
(a local earth god for wealth and well being)
while the upper one is for paying daily respect to their ancestor.

An extremely small toilet is outside the folding door.
As the living standard in Hong Kong has improved a lot,
an air-conditioner was installed to replace electric fans.

Even the flat is very small, the guy is still sleeping very sweet as he is living in his sweet home. It insights me to think one traditional sentence "Personal bed is much better than Dragon bed." Ha... Ha..... Actually, the living condition for the guy is not bad as it is quite often two persons share one bed in Hong Kong. CM, you really took a very good shot. Keep on.

Great capture and documentary again. Love to learn different real life stories in our neighborhood.

August in Hong Kong... 5 people in that room, even the calendars are pilled one on top of the others... it must be simply umbearable... where do they cook ? The toilet ? where do they pace their clothes ? I cannot imagine living there... yet millions do I guess !
A great documentary CM... continue.

Great documentary shot... respect that they still have enough space for the ancestors and Tu Di Gong deity.

Excellent documentation. A careful comparison with the previous image shows just how small this flat is. Very well shot image as well. "V"
