Not St Michael...but St George...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_George_and_the_Dragon
...an eternal struggle.

Jeanne, time won, not the clock, le temps a gagné, pas l'horloge... ;-)
Jeanne Newman26-Jul-2008 03:32
I have but one question, Maestro -- who won?
Luca Zanoni25-Jul-2008 19:29
Il y a une horloge qui ne sonne pas.
Il y a une fondrière avec un nid de bêtes blanches.

The symbolism is interesting, because your angle shows the traditional point of view of St Michael fighting the dragon. But the full view, of the sculpture by Jacques Monestier, brings in the entirely non-traditional aspects, rooster-basilisk and the crab and globe, which each involve their own symbolic, possibly astrological implications.

Kim, the golden crab is low right, partially off frame ;-)

Looks like a fantastic sculpture, I like your angle it adds to the drama of the scene.
