I now favor Nik's Silver Efex plugin, which is costly but offers an advanced interface with excellent film emulations as well as color filters and many toning presets
the selective dodge & burn tool is outstanding
I like the way it generates grain as well & it seems to hold details a hair better than the Photo-Plugin converter
