Jupiter
This image of Jupiter was captured through my 8" reflector at f/9.8 with a Philips SPC-900 NC webcam, on the night of July 18, 2008. The video was captured with K3CCDTools and the frames were extracted, aligned and stacked with Registax. Final image touchup was done in Photoshop.
Jupiter's moon Io is faintly visible near the right edge of this image. The Great Red Spot is just coming into view, in the southern equatorial belt near the left edge of the planet's disk. Jupiter rotates rapidly, completing a rotation in a little under 10 hours. The direction of rotation is from left to right in this photo.
