Chicken Cages Outside Hakka Village House

Hong Kong Museum of History

Hakka were agriculture-based Chinese that migrated to Hong Kong in 18th century.
The cages were used for keeping, transporting and selling chickens.
Because the house was small, the cages were normally kept outside their houses.

The cages were made from Bamboo.
Bamboo is widely used in Asia, from fences, walking sticks, furniture, chopsticks,
hats to musical instruments.

These may be chicken cages but they're certainly skillfully crafted.
Another outstanding image, Kwan.

Whoa... I wouldn't want to be a chcken in Hong Kong ! (or anywhere else for that matter !)... as for the bambo... what I seem to remember from Hong Kong is the bambo scafolding used to build house several stories high !
Another great low light shot... wow... Nikon sure got it right with their low iso... amazing clarity and... no noise at all !

No wonder Hong Kong got people speaking Hakka. I like the loneliness in this shot, very well represent things of the past.
