On the left, the extremely narrow building is the restored 1470 guild house of the Stevedores.... next to it is the coat-of-arms above the arched doorway of the Old Customs House(1477).
On Jan Van Eyck Plein.... that was built to block off the Speigelerie canal where previously there was a lock, bridge and weigh-house for customs on the canal cargo traffic that once passed through here
