Twite

(carduelis flavirostris)
The Twite is a rather nondescript little finch which is easily overlooked. In winter it forms large restless flocks usually in low-lying or coastal locations. Its summer breeding locations in Scotland are mostly in northern areas on low moorland and crofting localities. There were good numbers of Twite on both Fair Isle and the Shetland Mainland but these would soon be moving on further south.
