(carduelis hornemanni)
An Arctic Redpoll of the hornemanni type was found at the road end at Hoswick and the bird obligingly perched in a willow tree. Unfortunately it was raining heavily and the light was very poor but the bird lived up to its common description as a 'fluffy snowball'. The somewhat misty appearance of these photos is due to the front of my camera being lens being wet.
