Ring-necked (or Rose-ringed) Parakeet

(psittacula krameri)
Originally a South Asian and sub-Saharan African species. A feral population is now well established in several European countries. In the UK the population has gradually expanded northwards, the species seems to tolerate colder conditions and shorter daylight quite well. In the Glasgow area, there is now a well-established breeding population of probably over a hundred birds. Victoria Park in the Scotstoun area is a well known roost site and has had at least one breeding pair.
