Red-necked Grebe

(podiceps grisegena)
The Red-necked Grebe breeds mostly in eastern Europe into Asia. It is an uncommon though regular winter migrant to Scotland with a small number off the East Lothian coast. Very exceptionally, the bird photographed here was found in mid-summer on Hogganfield Loch, an inland loch in a Glasgow park.
