In Scotland the Red-footed Falcon is an occasional vagrant. I have only seen two in the last 8 years or so. The bird in these images was present for about 2 weeks near Livingstone, Lothian. This is a first summer female bird. It was conveniently located in a river valley adjacent to a disused railway viaduct which allowed for some spectacular eye level views of the bird.
See my Turkey birds gallery for other images of this species.
