Red-flanked Bluetail

(tarsiger cyanurus)
The Red-flanked Bluetail is a member of the thrush family. It breeds across the northern taiga zone extending as far as Eastern Finland. It is a long distance migrant wintering in SE Asia. In W Europe it is a rare but regular vagrant with one or two birds somewhere in the UK every autumn, usually in the northern isles or in the regular migration hotspots along the east coast.
