Pintail

(anas acuta)
In Scotland the Northern Pintail is mainly a winter visitor with only a very small breeding population of 20-30 pairs. The winter population is concentrated on only a few estuarine and lowland lochs in the south west and north east mainland. The breeding population is mostly confined to the Orkney Islands.
