The Marsh Sandpiper is a rare vagrant to Scotland. It breeds in far east of Europe and into western Asia wintering in Africa.
The bird in these photos was my first ever sighting of this species in Scotland where it stayed for a lengthy spell on the old wader scrapes at Musselburgh.
