Lesser Yellowlegs

The Lesser Yellowlegs is a Nearctic species which is a rare vagrant to the UK. There are two sets of photographs here. One is of a bird which was present in September and October 2006 at the Meikle Loch in the Ythan Estuary area. We were lucky to get really close up views of the bird which came to us as we sat by the loch side. The other set is of a bird which was present for several months in summer/autumn 2009 at Aberlady Bay, Lothian. This bird seemed to have paired up with a Common Redshank.
